Try upgrading your version of Google Desktop. The 5.1.0705.04505-en-pb version has a know bug, where it outputs invalid XML when an XML result set is requested. This has been fixed in the 5.1.0705.14375-en-pbGDS release. Please let us know if that solves the problem.
